How Can I Help To Make Girl Scouting
Available To More Girls?
Please contact our webmaster with any questions or comments.
Your gift is important!
Personal gifts can benefit Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley, Inc. by helping
to fund programs and activities that girls love. The following campaigns
show how your gift can help enrich a girl’s life:
Annual Fund Campaign
Community support is essential in providing the positive programs of
Girl Scouting to nearly 12,000 girls in our local area.
Through the Annual Fund drive, GSGV reaches out to individuals,
civic organizations and businesses to raise money for meaningful programs,
camping opportunities and activities to help girls develop courage,
confidence and character.
If you are interested in making a contribution,
please mail your donation to:
Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley
1020 John Street
West Henrietta, New York 14586
(Please make all checks payable to Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley, Inc.)
If you wish to charge your contribution by phone,
please call Beverley in our Development Office, at (585) 239-7984.
Family SHARE Campaign
Known as our Family SHARE Campaign, (Show Her a Real Experience),
parents and family members of Girl Scouts help support programs and activities
that their daughters enjoy. Gifts from families provide valuable support
which help to underwrite programs and projects throughout the Genesee Valley area.
Honor and Memorial Gifts
Girl Scouting has touched the lives of 50 million American women since it began in 1912. Gifts can be made in honor or memory of a family member, friend or someone in Girl Scouting who influenced your life. Gifts of $150 or more are recognized by a engraved brick at the council’s program center.
Employee Matching Gifts and Volunteer Hours Programs
Are you an employee of a company that matches employee charitable gifts or will match your volunteer hours with a donation? If yes, please include your company’s matching gift/volunteer hours form when you send in your donation.
Invest in Girls’ Futures and Your Own Through Planned Giving
Planned gifts represent the deepest traditions of private philanthropy. They enable you to meet your own needs and help others at the same time.
- Bequests. Bequests can reduce estate taxes while giving you the security of having full use of the assets during your life. You can bequeath a particular amount of money or an indentified item to Girl Scouts or you can give us a percentage of assets remaining after everything specified in your estate has been distributed.
- Appreciated securities. Appreciated securities such as stock, real estate and works of art make excellent planned gifts and are often more tax-wise than a cash contribution. These gifts have dual advantages for you; a current income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock (or the appraised value of the property) and avoidance of capital gains tax on the appreciation.
- Life income plans. You may prefer more permanent arrangements such as funds and trusts that often provide substantial income and estate tax advantages while preserving income for college or retirement.
We recommend that you discuss your plans to make a bequest or planned gift with your financial advisor, tax-attorney or legal counsel.
If you’ve already included Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley in your will or estate plan, please let us know so that we can update our records. Also, your planned gift automatically makes you a member of Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley’s Trefoil Society, which is a society of individuals who have named Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley in their will or who have made a planned gift to support Girl Scouting. Of course, GSGV honors the wishes of donors who wish to be anonymous. Gifts to the council are tax-deductable to the fullest extent allowed by law.
